All riders agreed for a late start at 9:00, and a short paved stage of only 60 kilometers.
A welcomed rest after the last hard stages.
All riders got out of town following an easy pace, and then some fierce attacks shattered
the group. Dain Zafke, the lean, mean, tall and strong athlete sent by Bike magazine to cover the
race, had also his chance for a stage win, after a few solo efforts the days before. Aggressively jumping
behind a passing truck, he left the peloton for good and rode with his head in the handlebars for
the next hour or so, finishing first and stopping the clock at 1:35. A group of 3 riders followed shorly
and overall standings haven't changed.
Everybody covered the whole distance today and agreed to say that the scenery was awesome.
All riders also enjoyed diving and swimming in the river at Caves Branch resort, beautifully
nested in the Belizean jungle. They were also treated with an inner tube visit of an impressive cave,
after a few kilometers of cycling through a vast orange orchard. Another unforgettable day.
