Riders had to trace back the last kilometers of yesterday's stage, which meant a lot of descents but also some serious climbing, because the road goes from mountain tops to the bottom of the rivers. Canadian Dan Casper Marshall, looking for at least a stage win in this race, took the opportunity at the first descent and attacked without looking back. He was at front solo all day and rode very agressively, even crashing hard after missing a turn. He got the strage win he deserved, with a time of 3:18. The rest of the pack follwed a few minutes later, still paying for yesterday's efforts. Leader Roger Troyer had to repair a flat tire but only lost a couple of minutes and still has a comfortable cushion.

This short day (85km) ended in the nice little town of San Ignacio, where riders could take advantage of civilization to do their laundry, phone home or go for shopping. All gathered in town for supper, being treated one more time to the traditional dish, the quintessential plate of chicken, rice and beans. Riders even suggested to rename Temple to Temple the "Rice and beans race".
